A reputable insurance company in Ghana controlling a significant share of the life insurance market is seeking to recruit desirable professionals with a high pedigree to assume the under-listed position as Investment Manager
INVESTMENT MANAGER
Reporting to the Chief Finance Officer, the Investment Manager will be responsible for the implementation and maintenance of the Company's Investment Policy and the provision of investment information and financial advice to the Management Investment Committee for informed decisions on
investments.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities
- Administer the Company's investment policy in accordance with policy guidelines and perform appropriate due diligence to substantiate the long-term value of the investment portfolio as is consistent with the policy.
- Manage the investment policy asset class allocations within policy ranges approved by the Investment Committee, in accordance with policy guidelines,
- Report concerns, problems. material changes and all violations of Guidelines and Policies to the Investment Committee.
- Perform all aspects of the programme portfolio management including monitoring. analysing and evaluating performance relative to the appropriate benchmarks.
- Provide recommendations to the Investment Committee annually or more frequently if needed. about sectorial allocations, returns, risks and activity.
- Provide recommendations to the Investment Committee concerning the identification of new asset classes and selection of asset class benchmarks, policy targets and ranges.
- Advise the Management Investment Committee (through the CFO) on periodic review of the Investment Policy to meet administrative, economic, legal and environmental changes.

- Work closely with the Risk Management Department to remain knowledgeable about the changing risk profiles of existing and potential counterparties.
- Determine adjustments in asset class allocations, effecting re-balancing account activities and fund transfers across assetclasses.
- Undertake regular research about existing counterparties and other corporate entities about their financial health and risk characteristics and stay apprised about general current events in the environment and local financial market.
- Maintain current knowledge about global financial markets, products, yields and trends.
- Perform investment analyses on potential counterparties to assess their risks and financial health in order to advise on new investment opportunities.
- Report on Investment opportunities identified and related analysis with proposed courses of action for Management Investment Committee's consideration, including mergers and acquisitions.
- Meet with other investment analysts to stay up-to-date about market situations to advise on Company decisions that may impact one another negatively.
Educational Qualification and Experience
- A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Finance or its equivalent.
- Master's Degree in Business Administration, Statistics, Economics. Mathematics, Accounting or a related discipline from a recognised University.
- A certification in Sccuntics from the Ghana Stock Exchange.
- Postgraduate certificate in Investment Portfolio Analysis & Management from a recognised institution.
- Must be a member of relevant professional body.
- A minimum of five (5) years of proven post-qualification experience as an Investment Manager in a reputable organisation. Banking (treasury) experience will be an advantage.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Competencies
- In-depth knowledge of relevant Ghana tax laws, corporate finance practice and risk management issues.
- Knowledge of a wide range of investment and financial products. including Government securitiess money market instruments namely; stocks, binds,as well as other bank products and their associated risks.
- Good working knowledge Of other financial markets, products and risks profiles.
- The ability to use complex financial models to project future earnings and profit potential.
- Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting methods.
- Strong technical and analytical skills.
- Good-decision making, critical thinking with strong problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, leadership and team building skills.
- The ability to multitask, pay attention to detail and work under Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant financial management software.
