A reputable insurance company in Ghana controlling a significant share of the life insurance market is seeking to recruit desirable professionals with a high pedigree to assume the under-listed position as Assistant Lawyer

Reporting to the Head of Legal, the Assistant Lawyer will assist the Head Legal in the discharge oi the legal function for and on behalf of the Company.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Give timely and practicable legal advice to the Company.
  • Draft All agreements, Contracts other documents with legal implications for the Company's business.
  • Represent the Company in all litigation, both civil and criminal (including watching brief) before the various courts and adjudicatory bodies in Ghana.
  • Represent the Company in matters before quasi-iudiciaJ bodies like the National Inbour Commission (NLC) among other entities.
  • Proffer legal advice On diverse issues concerning the day-to-day business of the Company such as but not limited to the following;
  • Disciplinary matters, terminations, contracts of employment, Undertakings and Contracts with service providers,
  • Tenancies — drafting and reviewing tenancy agreements for various owned and rental properties Which the company utilises; contracts with service providers for fumigation, lifts and escalators, cleaning, security: drafting of procurement notices. award letters and contracts.

  • Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with the providers of our Business Management Software, Internet Service provider. providers of hardware document managetnent services.
  • On Banc Assurance Agreements with Banks for Direct Debit Mandate arrangements; Consultancy Contracts; advise client services on various issues and draft Guarantees for certain category of staff.

Educational Qualification and Experience

  • An LLB/BA Law from a recognised university plus  a BL
  • Professional qualification from a recognised law School.
  • A Master's Degree in Law or Business Administration will be an advantage.
  • Must be a member of GhanaBar Association in good standing.
  • A minimum of seven (7) years demonstrable work experience in a similar role either in-hoosc at reputable regulated entity or chambers with a reputable law firm with expertise in corporate practice as well as litigation.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Competencies

  • Good lawyering skills with crisp written and oral communication.
  • Ability to articulate ideas with logic and clarity.
  • Demonstrable competence in drafting provisions.
  • Must be able to give pragmatic legal solutions to problems as they arise
  • Demonstrable dexterity and/or ability to turn his/her hand anything in order to proiicr a solution to a given problem,
  • Great interpersonal skills and must demonstrate the ability to work part of a team.
  • Ability to think and cool and aplomb under pressure.
  • Must be tenacious and doggedly persistent in the quest to solve problems.
  • Above average literacy in the use of computers and conversance with the usage of office equipment
