JOB TITLE: BUDDER/SPRAYER/CHAINSAW OPERATOR/POLLINATOR
DUTIES
(i) BUDDER
- Fill polybags and raise rootstocks at the nursery sites
- Collect budwood of the desirable cocoa type/clones from the Wood Garden
- Bud/graft scion onto rootstocks at the correct growth stage
- Nurture budded/grafted plants to transplanting stage
- Maintain budlings nursery throughout the year, including weeding, watering, shade manipulation etc.
(ii) SPRAYER
- Spray against capsids, fungal, weeds, and other insect pests, as well as diseases of cocoa and coffee
- Spray foliar fertiliser to boost flower production In the Seed Garden

(iii) CHAINSAW OPERATOR
- Fell and chop unwanted trees during land preparation for new establishment
- Prune undesirable branches and twigs from cocoa ad shade trees of Fell and chop cocoa and coffee trees during coppicing
(iv) POLLINATOR
- Label, count and record pollinated flowers, cherelles and mature pods for the purpose of compiling data for monthly reports
- Pollinate the female trees with pollen from the male parents
- Collect pollen from male parent for pollination
- Strip undesirable cherelles (young cocoa pods) to prepare the cocoa trees for hand pollination
- Monitor development of hybrid seed pods, harvest, sort out healthy pods, count and take records
- Convey healthy pods to collection points for carting and distribution to farmers and other user agencies
SKILLS
- Good interpersonal skills
- Ability to work under pressure
- Time management skills
QUALIFICATION
The minimum qualification for appointment to this grade shall be:
BECE/SSSCE/WASSCE/Five GCE 0' Level Certificate and a minimum of two (2) years relevant work experience
