SNV seeks a Chief of Party (COP) for an anticipated USAID-funded project in Ghana focused on enhancing agriculture-led economic growth, resilience, women’s empowerment and nutrition in the Northern, Upper East, and Upper West regions of northern Ghana. The project will use an innovative market systems approach to strengthen value chain linkages and increase agricultural productivity in maize, soybean, cowpea, groundnut, and high value crops, as well as improve access to finance.The Chief of Party (COP) will provide overall leadership, management, and general technical direction for the entire project, ensuring an integrated vision among diverse components and actors, and focusing on achieving the desired results. The COP will be responsible for overall activities of sub-recipients and leading program-focused strategic planning and decision-making. The COP will work closely with USAID and will be a key liaison with implementing partners and other stakeholders. He or she will be based in one of our project offices in Accra or elsewhere in Ghana, and will be expected to travel within the country.SNV offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package, per international standards.
Qualifications

Minimum of 10 years’ experience in designing and implementing donor-funded agriculture, natural resource management, and capacity building projects

Minimum of ten (10) years of work experience in developing countries, preferably with experience in Ghana or the Sub-Saharan Africa

Minimum (5) years of successful experience as Project Director or Chief of Party of donor-funded technical assistance teams for projects greater than $5 million in developing countries.

Previous experience in a senior technical or management position on a USAID-funded contract, preferably in Sub-Saharan Africa

Master’s degree or higher in Agribusiness, International Development, Development Management, Economics, Business Management, or other related field.

Demonstrated experience in progressively responsible supervisory positions, including direct supervision of professional and support staff; quality evaluation of staff performance and deliverables; and contracts/grants management.

Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to hold staff accountable for doing their jobs.

Fluency in English required, knowledge of local languages highly desired.
