The Ghana Institute of Architects (GIA) is a professional society for Architects located in Accra, Ghana. It was registered in 1962 as the first professional body in independent Ghana, and inaugurated in December 1964 as a self-governing and fully indigenous institution to advance architectural practice, education and accreditation in Ghana.
The GIA is currently seeking the services of a professional Administrator.
JOB BRIEF
The Administrator fills a key role within the team. This position requires solid administrative experience combined with strong coordination skills. The Administrator must possess strong problem solving skills, work ethic, organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to work with others and supervise a team of six (6) administrative employees. This position will handle all aspects of the administration including, but not limited to, the smooth running of the GIA’s offices, liaising with various stakeholders throughout the industry to provide clarity and transparency.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Improve the linkages between sister organizations such as the Ghana Institute of Engineering (GhIE), Ghana Institute of Surveyors (GIS), Ghana Institute of Planners (GIP), contractors and suppliers and the GIA.
- Update the Register of Architects on a regular basis to facilitate subscription payments and improve communication
- Coordinate the attendance of programs/ manage the calendar of activities of the GIA
- Facilitate publicity drives for the GIA in the print media, television, radio and social media
- Improve the frequency of Product presentations
- Build and manage the information centre or library
- Facilitate a constant roll out of magazines and newsletters for the GIA
- Manage the welfare scheme for Members
- Facilitate visits to sites that have been approved by Council
- Responsible for building and managing relationships with key brands as identified by Council from time to time
- Ensure and coordinate the involvement of the GIA in Corporate Social Responsibility activities
- Establish the Architects Meeting Room with print and copy centre to serve architects (blue prints, colour printing and photocopying etc. etc.)
- Establish an archiving centre
- Ensure the smooth running of the GIA and proper interface with architects.
- Prepare monthly reports /minutes of meetings for the GIA.
