What is the job about?

As an Area Marketing Director, you will, in collaboration with the Area Managing Director, Regional Marketing Director and area sales management, develop the strategy, targets and priorities for the area. This shall be clearly aligned with the go to market approach and customer groups within the area.

The “go to market” approach for SSA is very much linked to 2 key domains. Firstly, focusing on our Distribution Partners across all markets with special attention being given to building the strongest distribution network across Sub-Saharan African. This requires heavy support from a marketing perspective which will comprise the entire mix of marketing and communication disciplines, but with specific emphasis on supporting this channel to market.

Secondly, a major part of the business environment is linked to the “CSR-domain”. This refers to Aid and NGO organizations as well as private and larger multi nationals who concentrates predominantly on providing water and sanitation into Africa. From a marketing and communication point of view, this domain is key for building our success!

Some Of Your Responsibilities Will Be As Follows

  • Identify opportunities for area specific activities and develop appropriate campaigns and initiatives in collaboration with group, area marketing, regional segment teams and area sales management.
  • Align the marketing activities with group strategy, global campaigns and activities whilst developing local activities to meet customer needs.
  • With the Area Managing Director, Regional Marketing Director and area sales management develop the annual marketing plan to implement the strategy though tactical campaigns and initiatives.
  • Ensure the execution of the marketing and communications plans – both traditional and digital as outlined in the marketing activity plan.
  • Ensure all activities are delivered within budget and reconciled with area finance monthly throughout the year.
  • Manage a team of people to fulfil their personal and team objectives delivering consistently within the specified deadlines, to the highest standard and to budget.
  • Responsible for local statutory accounts, financial compliance, taxes and internal control matters.

What do you need to apply?

To be considered for this role, you should have the following:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business Studies or a similar discipline. Professional Marketing Qualifications desirable.
  • Min 8-10 years marketing or sales experience in the B2B sector.
  • Awareness of requirements of marketing or selling technical, performance–based products.
  • Strong project management experience.
  • Digital marketing experience is essential.
  • The ability to communicate at a range of levels across the business.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to manage teams both direct and cross-functionally.
