Role purpose
- To provide operational, administrative, maintenance and project support for the IP/MPLS network and internet infrastructure and services by providing second level support to ensure high network and service availability and reliability
Key accountabilities
- Provide 2nd level maintenance support for all IP/MPLS network elements. This shall include but not limited to all escalations from 1st Line, implementation of platform upgrades and system expansions and provide solution to customer issues/problems
- Implement project related activities as well as other initiatives within the IP/MPLS setup
- Provide specialist technical advice and information to IP/MPLS Operations Manager and propose improvement in line with trends and technology
- Execute decisions to maintain service continuity of the IP/MPLS platforms and services and provide technical guidance to Marketing , Commercial and Enterprise Business Unit
- Engage members of other departments in resolution of issues as well as planning of network related projects
Core Competencies
- University degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic engineering or its equivalent
- Certification in CCNA, CCNP or its equivalent as well as ITIL citification
- 5 or more years of experience in IP Networks, Fixed and Mobile Networks
- Microsoft Office Package, UNIX, TCP/IP, IP Routing, Traffic Engineering, IP Security. Knowledge of ITIL, ITSM or similar Framework
- Excellent knowledge in IP and Internet standards
