PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
The Managing Director will be accountable for the analysis of risks and opportunities for improvement of technologies and methodologies for operations, as well as ensure the effective integration between operational activities and drive an annual management cycle, aligned to CAR, to ensure improved planning processes for all core operations departments in Iduapriem.
QUALIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCE:
- Relevant degree
- 10 – 12 years applicable experience
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Health, Safety and Environment (HSE):
- Identify, understand and address HSE hazards and risks,
- Drive collaboration in pursuing HSE goals,
- Seek and pursue opportunities to improve HSE performance,
- Plan and operate for closure, and continuously reduce environmental liability
- People:
- Live and lead AGA values,
- Develop talent and implement succession planning,
- Maintain an engaged workforce and a healthy IR climate,
- Implement effective managerial leadership and achieve desired team outputs and work behaviours
- Transformative Business Development:
- Develop Business Plans and LOM Strategic Options for the Business Unit,
- Identify business growth opportunities in pursuit of longer life of mine and free cash flow,
- Develop and implement a project pipeline in line with approved Business Strategic Options,
- Deliver a strong pipeline of conversion of endowment to resources and resources to reserves
- Production, Working Capital and Stay in Business Capital:
- Set up the business to consistently achieve quarterly budgets on production, cost and free cash flow,
- Continuously improve the business systems, processes and procedures,
- Timely submissions of operational plans, forecasts and reports,
- Optimise working capital, eliminate lock ups and write offs,
- Establish a disciplined Stay in Business capital allocation and management process,
- Operational Excellence:
- Drive continuous improvement of the business using the Operational Excellence Platform,
- Sustain high levels of people participation and rituals (Wiring), Pipeline of Ideas and Coaching of relevant personnel
- Social Licence to Operate:
- Create and maintain positive and mutually beneficial relationships with host communities,
- Engage with relevant regulatory authorities and go beyond mere compliance,
- Participate in the regional and local government programmes that align to AGA values and goals,
- Partake proactively in the value creating activities of the industry bodies such as the Ghana Chamber of Mines,
- Deliberately promote the fair participation of local people in employment, and in supply and contracts.
- Legal, Ethics and Compliance:
- Make decisions that reduce and eliminate legal, ethical and compliance risks,
- Perform necessary due diligence on third parties,
- Train and model ethical leadership,
- Identify and report compliance violations
- Keep abreast of and compliance changing AGA policy and national legislation
