AngloGold Ashanti (Ghana) Limited is currently on a journey to redevelop the Obuasi Gold Mine into a modern, efficient and long-term profitable operation. The underground mining operation will be fully mechanized, designed to produce up to an average maximum of 5,000 t/day of ore mined.
We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated person to join our dedicated team as Cost Accountant.
ROLE PURPOSE AND CONTEXT
The purpose of the Cost Accountant role is to provide direct support to the Manager: Management Accounting for the Obuasi Mine operations, help coordinate the preparation of departmental budgets and ensure timely reporting of departmental cost and performance reports.

The role also entails working closely with the departmental heads and timely proactively flagging any cost abnormalities and deviations for corrective action.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Help to identify, develop and provide guidance in the implementation of necessary Finance & Budget Operational Readiness activities/program to support the redevelopment of the Obuasi Mine
- Assist to develop the annual Obuasi Mine budget to achieve the required targets for achieving annual, medium term and LoM business plans
- Deliver the approved departmental budget targets within specified timeframes, costs and related KPIs
- Demonstrate Safety culture and improve the Culture across the Finance & Budget section regarding Safety, Health, and Sustainable Development
- Manage all environmental requirements for the Finance & Budget sections and integrate this work into the Department’s budget
- Guide to provide the systems, resources and expertise to the Obuasi Business Unit through the senior manager Finance & commercial to develop direct Finance team to capably and consistently deliver the annual budget, LoM plan and strategy according to their role and level of authority
- Sustain a culture of Accountability and Continuous Improvement within the Finance, Budget & reporting sections
- Maintain constructive relationships with Internal Stakeholders (Site management, Corporate, Group Planning & Technical, sister mines, CARO etc.) and external Stakeholders (Regulatory Agencies and Authorities, Tax Department, Municipal Offices, Minerals Commission, Central Bank, Chamber of Mines, Registrar General Department)
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and a partly qualified Chartered Accountant preferably
Experience
- 3 – 5 years management and cost accounting experience preferably within the mining industry.
- Experience and understanding of total mining cycle.

- An appreciable knowledge in Company Law and Mining regulations
