EnCompass LLC is currently seeking a Senior Gender, Youth and Agriculture Consultant to lead qualitative data collection for a gender and youth in agriculture contextual analysis. Data collection will take place in Accra and in USAID’s zone of influence in the norther region. The idea candidate has significant experience gathering qualitative data through key informant interviews and focus group discussions with women and youth working in agriculture. Experience with USAID-funded projects is preferred.
The position is based in Accra, Ghana with travel to field locations in marine fisheries and the Northern Region.
Position Duties and Responsibilities
Essential functions include:
- Refine qualitative data collection tools with EnCompass staff (0.5 day)
- Participate in training on research methodology (0.5 day)
- Schedule and lead key informant interviews, providing EnCompass with good quality transcripts of interviews (5 days)
- Schedule and lead focus group discussions with female and youth farmers in the Northern district (arranging your own travel, accommodation and FGD facilities) (5 days)
- Develop brief presentation of early findings to present to USAID mission (0.5 day)
- Support EnCompass team during data analysis process (1 day)
- Engage in regular check-in meetings with Senior Gender Specialist. (1 day)
Position Requirements
Qualifications
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of experience or a Master’s degree and 4 years of experience.
- Educational degrees or work experience in agriculture, gender studies, or youth studies is preferred
Experience and Skills
- Experience leading qualitative data collection required
- Strong focus group discussion facilitation skills
- Experience working with USAID preferred
- Professional written and spoken English
