Job Description
- Department: Legal
- Location: Head Office
- Monitor and take follow-up action on some decisions of the Board/ Committees pertaining to legal matters.
- Review and draft all legal instruments.
- Attend and advise on all legal correspondence addressed to the company.
- Deals with operational matters like advising on legal documents from the branches, Letters of Administration, probates, change of business names/objects at Registrar General’s Department, attending to garnishee proceedings, advising on corporate customers operations in accordance with companies code Act 179 and rendering legal opinions on banking law and practice.
- Assist the Board Secretary in legal matters.
- Work closely with external solicitors, provide them with the needed information and documents in recovery process.
- Attend court with external solicitors to represent the company and monitor performance.
- Ensure effective pursuit of legal action for recovery from defaulting customers by sending demand notices to defaulters and visit them as a member of Recovery Team.
- Supervise the preparation and execution of the Mortgage Deeds and other forms of security documents e.g. Director’s Guarantee, fixed and floating charges.
- Working with the Human Resource Department when sitting on disciplinary committees.

Required Skills or Experience
- Minimum of a First University Degree in Law (LLB) & Law Professional Qualification.
- 5 – 8 years post qualification experience as a legal practitioner.
- Sound knowledge & Skills in legal issues
- Adequate management and office administration concepts.
- Excellent presentation skills
- Ability to plan daily/periodic operations.
- Familiar with computer processing/applications.
