AngloGold Ashanti (Ghana) Limited is currently on a journey to redevelop the Obuasi Gold Mine into a modern, efficient and long-term profitable operation. The underground mining operation will be fully mechanized, designed to produce up to an average maximum of 5,000 t/day of ore mined.
We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated person to join our dedicated team as Plant Manager – Technical.
ROLE PURPOSE AND CONTEXT
The purpose of the role is to guide the Plant Manager – Operations to maintain and improve efficiencies of the production department at the South Treatment Plant to maximize the following function:
Revenue = Run Time x Tons Per Hour x Au grade x Recovery – Costs
This role is both forward looking to suggest improvements and predict possible future challenges and to provide guidance of future plant modifications which improve performance. The role also requires data analysis and trending to identify deviations from the desired standards
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Actively promote Health, Safety and Environmental actions and improvements
- Contribution into EIA and permitting procedures
- International Cyanide Management Institute compliance
- Compliance with Legal Instruments (LI’s) and Codes as laid down by the Republic of Ghana
- Analysis of Tailings Facilities operations data
- Constant monitoring and recommendations of adjustment of plant performance to achieve Monthly KPI’s
- Achieve Au production targets
- Achieve Throughput targets
- Minimise downtime
- Achieve recovery efficiency targets
- Cost control of production within the processing budget targets including but not limited to reagent consumption, labour costs and other expenses
- Develop / implement and Maintain metallurgical accounting system
- Daily, weekly, monthly and annual gold accounting reports
- Long term historical data for technical review and reference
- Strategic and ad-hoc test work
- Develop budget for upcoming periods and monitor performance according to current plan
- Develop strategic career paths and succession planning for your subordinates
- Develop and maintain an up to date training system for use by all employees in the Processing Department
- Develop performance management set points and targets for your subordinates
- Maintaining discipline, performance management
- Constant assessment and challenging of the status quo to identify and align operations to best practice
- Prediction of impending process upsets with possible remedies / preventions
- Frequent analysis of historical parameters to align and improve upon best historical operations level
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
Qualification
- Bachelor of Science – Extraction Metallurgy or similar / equivalent
Experience
- 15 years of which 5 have been in a management position
- Experience and understanding of total mining cycle.
Technical Competencies
- Proven Management of plant performance and efficiency
- Budgeting and cost control
- Production scheduling and optimization
- Proven knowledge of Metallurgical Accounting with the implementation of databases
- Demonstrable knowledge of metallurgical processes such as, but not limited to, size reduction, flotation, adsorption / desorption, hydrometallurgy,
- Proven knowledge and implementation of security controls of a gold processing plant
- Proven knowledge of equipment selection and process design
- Proven knowledge of engineering principles of various equipment types.
Leadership Competencies
- Self-driven to achieve targets and improve the status quo.
- Accountable
- Strong and proven decision-making skills.
- Determined to succeed and make those surrounding him / her successful
- Demonstrate behaviour consistent with AGA values.
