The Ghana Museums and Monuments Board (GMMB) is pleased to announce a new logo competition for all its official documents and communication
needs. Established in 1957, the GMMB derives its powers from the National Liberation Council Decree (NLCD) 387 of 1969, now known as Act 387 of
1969, which was further strengthened by the Executive Instrument (E.I.) 29 of 1973.

Ghana ratified the World Heritage Convention in 1975 and so the GMMB is guided by the operational guidelines for the implementation of the Convention. GMMB is also guided by international protocols, recommendations and charters.

The material cultural heritage of Ghana comprises monuments which include buildings of traditional Ghanaian architecture and decor, such as the Asante Traditional Buildings, the European-built Forts and Castles, Mosque and other historical buildings. The movable cultural heritage include artefacts - pots, stools, musical instruments, textiles, clothing, leather works, weapons, tools, carvings, masks, jewellery, and ritual dolls etc. The material cultural heritage of Ghana also include several archaeological, ethnographic and historical finds.
