Key Requirements

The successful candidate will have:

• Experienced as Mechanic/ Fitter with knowledge of tanker systems and Engine Room operations.
• Fitter on the sailing vessel is a preferred advantage.
• Experienced in general lathe machine operations and skills with welding equipment and welding knowledge.
• Experienced in the operation and maintenance of process equipment preferred.
• Experienced with Safety Management Systems and computerised Planned Maintenance Systems preferred.
• Marine Engine Room valid STCW certificates. Certificate for welding abilities will be an advantage.
• Previous experience using Maximo or asset maintenance management system desired. 
• Good personal and interpersonal skills.
• Time spent at sea preferred.
• Strong stakeholder appreciation essential. 
• Diplomatic – able to work with various players to achieve objectives. 
• Good attitude to work.
• A strong Team Player.
• Flexible/adaptive to change.
• Fluent in oral and written English

Job Overview:

A global supplier and operator of offshore floating platforms seek an Engine Room Mechanical Technician to work on their offshore Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel on a rotational basis in West Africa. You will carry out operation and maintenance activities of the Facility’s Engine room, associated equipment and vessel. Applicants are invited with Mechanical / Fitter experience and knowledge of tanker systems and Engine Room operations. Experience working on a sailing vessel desired. The Company has been in operation for many decades and are well established as a leading provider of floating solutions for the offshore oil and gas industry. They offer a range of vessels such as FPSO’s, FSO’S and FLNG and much more. They have an enviable reputation for EPCI (Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Installation) services as well as charter and operations projects. They operate globally and have offices in many countries. 

Responsibilities:

This role encompasses many functions including:

• Carries out operation and maintenance activities of the Facility’s Engine room, associated equipment and vessel utilities with minimal environmental impact in accordance with statutory, class and flag regulations together with the Safety/ Facility Management Systems (and assists topsides Mechanical Technician as/ when required).
• Must be quality-conscious and deliver technically sound results without incident.
• Must follow the Company safety procedures and rules.
• Carries out operational and maintenance activities which will include but are not limited to repair/ overhaul work, shutdowns, isolations and planned maintenance.
• Be familiar with the Facility’s plant and machinery their safe operation and maintenance and will ensure knowledge of safety requirements including work permit systems, operational and emergency procedures, company policy and instructions.
• Ensures that all information entered in logs, reports, maintenance records and Maximo is accurate and conforms to the Safety/Facility Management Systems.
• Ensures all boiler systems are well maintained in terms of internal boiler water quality meeting vendors required specifications.


This is a permanent role offering a competitive salary. In addition: 

• Offshore / Hardship allowances may be considered. 
• Transportation as necessary and required. 
• Alternatively, a transportation allowance may be provided. 
• 15 days paid leave and public holidays.
• International Medical Cover.
• For ex-pats:
? The Company will provide accommodations 
? Foreign Service Premium may be considered.
? You will be entitled to 1 trip for every 3 months service. This will include an economy flight plus 7 calendar day home leave (including weekend and public holiday but excluding travel day) to visit your home country or to travel outside of designated country. 
? Once a year, someone can accompany you - economy flight paid.
? A small relocation allowance may be offered. 
? The Company will organise all aspects of mobilisation/ demobilisation 
? The Company will organise work permits.

This is an offshore rotational position and as such:

• You will work 28 days on and 28 days off.
• You will be a permanent employee working effectively for half the year 
• You will be paid monthly and the salary will reflect the work schedule
