Job Description

  • Supports the MODEC Ghana Facilities Production, Maintenance, and Operations Departments with respect to onshore and offshore new structural projects and inspections/repairs/alterations to existing structures.
  • Regularly inspects structures and lifting devices to achieve key performance indicator targets related to the safety of the facility equipment and systems.
  • Provides guidance and technical support to the National Service Personnel where applicable in the various MODEC and international processes, systems and standard requirements applicable to achieve and maintain the structural integrity of the onshore and offshore Facilities
  • Provides the Senior MODEC Representative Offshore and the Facility Management Team leaders with technical support and direction as required.
  • Liaise with Class and Flag State regulatory bodies where required to ensure compliance and maintenance of class and flag classifications, including the sourcing, engagement and management of specialist contractors to complete the inspection and maintenance activities required.
  • Identify, review, and approve any QA/QC Inspection requirements for the Facilities’ structural assemblies and systems.
  • Identify, develop, and complete Management of Change (MoC) including Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) under the guidance of the Maintenance & Integrity Lead.
  • Prepares and presents (in various formats) flow diagrams, charts/graphs, statistics and calculations/correlations for ECR’s and Meetings/Reviews.
  • Prepares cost estimates, schedules, specifications for labor, materials and equipment with respect to ECR’s, inspection & maintenance campaigns, repair/breakdown activities, work routines and preventative maintenance activities. Completes technical bid evaluations of contractor/vendor bid submissions accordingly.
  • Coordinates the execution of the MODEC approved contractor(s)/FMT work activity with the FMT Planner.
  • Maintains records of progress, quantities, changes, delays, and other pertinent information for the facility.
  • Participates in audits to ensure the appropriate monitoring and accountability is being implemented.
  • Identifies issues and resolves where possible any facility contractor concerns to achieve HSE, production, maintenance, and operational performance targets. Communicates with the Maintenance & Integrity Lead any concerns not able to be resolved.
  • Directs technicians and contractors to ensure MODEC Ghana Limited objectives and targets are met with regard to budget, safety, risk, quality, and engineering standards.
  • Engages external fabrication and local service providers within the assigned authority levels.
  • Ensure structural fabrication, repair and alteration activities are completed in accordance with MODEC and industry standards, engineering procedures and specifications where applicable.
  • Develops Work Instructions, Work Packs and Scopes of Work for structural engineering related activities for the offshore and onshore facilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, with an emphasis on the structural discipline.
  • 3-5 years experience in the hydrocarbon or offshore oil & gas industry.
  • Able to demonstrate a good working knowledge of relevant Ghanaian and International Standards applicable to the oil & gas industry and how they relate specifically to the facility operations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • High level of computer literacy in office packages, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Highly desirable, but not essential, Autodesk AUTOCAD, AspenTech HYSYS, and Microsoft Visio.
  • Knowledge of the document control and procurement management systems and processes.
  • Knowledge of the maintenance management system Maximo.
  • Current OPITO accredited Tropical Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training (TBOSIET) qualifications or higher are required for offshore travel to and from the facility.
