Job Description

Summary:
- Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) is a United States-based non-profit organization dedicated to discovering, and promoting effective solutions to global poverty problems. IPA designs, rigorously evaluates, and refines these solutions and their applications together with decision-makers to ensure that the evidence created is used to improve opportunities for the world’s poor.
- IPA seeks qualified applicants to be considered for the position of a cleaner in the Accra office. This role consist of keeping the building clean and orderly as well as heavy cleaning duties. The position will be based in Accra.
Responsibilities:
The Cleaner will perform the following responsibilities:
- Clean and disinfect sinks, countertops, toilets, mirrors, floors and refrigerators daily; Replenish bathroom supplies; Polish glass doors, window sills, fixtures and fittings; Sweep and mop floors using a broom and a mop; Do other cleaning work such as scrubbing, waxing, and polishing floors;
- Empty waste baskets and recyclables, and transport to disposal bin;
- Wash the washroom towels and kitchen napkins;
- Notify supervisor concerning the need for major repairs;
- Perform other work related duties that may be assigned.
Required Skills or Experience
- A minimum educational qualification of Junior High School Certificate or higher;
- Prior experience in a similar role will be a plus;
- Must be able to speak English clearly;
- Must be hardworking and trustworthy;
- Self-motivation and ability to identify and complete needed tasks without direct supervision;
- Candidates who provide references who can vouch for their safety and performance as a Cleaner will be prioritized.
