Communications, Press and Media

 

Main purpose of job:

The successful candidate will report to the Communications Manager and support them in the delivery of effective and engaging UK communications in Ghana that support bilateral, prosperity, security and corporate objectives. Duties will include, but will not be limited to, designing striking digital content for use on the British High Commission’s social media channels, and working with a broad range of media stakeholders to influence external messaging and to deliver UK Government messages.

The successful candidate will provide tailored communications advice and support to UK Government departments working in Ghana, and work across departments as part of a ‘whole of mission’ approach.

 

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Manage all social media accounts and website of the British High Commission with final approval from the Communications Manager.
  • Design creative story-telling content that inspire, inform and engage audience on all British High Commission digital platforms.
  • Act as the official photographer for all British High Commission events and maintain a proper archive of all digital contents.
  • Daily Monitoring of Ghanaian media outlets for content of interest to the UK. Compile media distribution list and contacts whiles evaluating all media activities.
  • Supporting the Communications Manager in the implementation of strategic communication for the British High Commission.
  • Lead on branding ensuring brand visibility and managing brand logistics.
  • Work with HMG departments, including British Council, DFID, DIT UKVI to establish and implement appropriate campaign plans ensuring cross HMG communication.
  • Provide logistical support in the delivery of all HMG events.

 

Resources managed (staff and expenditure)Providing informal guidance to National Service Personnel working in the team.

 

  • Minimum of 1 years’ experience working in a Diplomatic Mission or media organisation.
  • Demonstrable social media skills, including implementing media campaigns
  • Strong links in the media, including TV, Radio, Print and social media.
  • Experience in producing innovative and creative social media and video content.

 

 

  • French Language
  • Photo and video content editorial skills.
