The Position

The Director-General is the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation and subject to such general directions as the Board may give, is responsible for overall leadership, co-ordination, guidance and supervision of the work of the corporation.

Accountabilities

• Responsible for the day to day administration of the Corporation
• Planning, strategy development, implementation of corporate operational policies and procedures, in conjunction with the board
• Guide the delivery of public and commercial broadcasting
• Present work plans, budgets, financial planning and reporting
• Submit to the board appropriate audit, operational and performance reports within approved timelines and performance reports within approved timelines
• Develop and maintain a philosophy of management and corporate culture that fosters co-operation
• Any other relevant duties/responsibilities that may be assigned by the board

Qualification Required & Experience

• A Master's Degree in the sciences or Arts, preferably Mass Communication, Journalism, Business/Public Administration, Engineering, Economics, Management or a Post-Graduate professional certificate/qualification or relevant specialist industry training equivalent with not less than 15 years post qualification relevant work experience, 5 years of which must be in a senior management position in a reputable institution
• The successful candidate should be able to serve a term of 4 years before he/she attains the compulsory retirement age of 60 years

• Strong managerial and organizational skills
• Demonstrable knowledge of public broadcasting
• Demonstration of creativity and good business acumen
• Excellent leadership and decision-making skills
• Excellent administrative and supervisory skills
• Good team player
• Excellent communication, analytical and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in computer and software application
• Conversant with the financial administration act, the public procurement act, the internal audit agency acts, the national media commission act and the 1992 constitution
• Excellent marketing orientation and good knowledge of media networks, particularly the electronic media
