Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions, Inc. (Wood) is seeking a Senior Technical Lead for Ghana in the energy sector to guide and support the West Africa Energy Program (WAEP) under the Power Africa Expansion Program. WAEP will target advancing the energy sector, specifically as related to facilitating the financial closure of power transactions and strengthening the enabling environment for private sector investment in Ghana and West Africa’s power sector, while addressing key constraints to such investment and strengthening the human and institutional capacity of key national power sector entities, including utilities, on-grid connections, and regional power trade. Projects will be performed in close coordination with US funding agencies and local stakeholder counterparts. Extensive experience living and working in Ghana is highly preferred.
This full-time position will be based in Accra, Ghana, and will require frequent travel to in-country project sites. Wood’s Senior Energy Lead for Ghana will provide technical leadership, project management, and strategy and project formulation support for all desired outcomes of the Ghana program. The successful candidate will report directly to the project COP.

Contract length: Four (4) years with possible option years.
Position Responsibilities:
- Provide oversight and ensure effective performance of the Ghana portions of the project
- Serve as Wood’s senior staff member and liaison with both the client and the project team
- Coordinate performance and implementation across all desired outcomes of the Ghana program
- Ensure the high quality of all deliverables produced
- Report to Wood’s COP on project progress, needs and issues
- Support Wood’s Home Office staff in developing monthly project invoices
Skills / Qualifications
- A minimum of 20 years of working experience in implementing energy projects, especially in electricity distribution, is desired
- Preferably a Bachelor’s degree in engineering or finance, with a Master’s degree in engineering management, finance/economics or similar fields
- Extensive in-country technical work experience is highly preferred
- Extensive knowledge of international best practices in power system planning, finance and economics, business models, institutional assessment, contract procedures, project follow-up and risk management
- Experience working and living in developing and/or post-conflict countries, with a preference for experience in Ghana
- Ability to work in a team environment with multiple reporting priorities
