Main Duties or Responsibilities
The successful candidate shall have direct supervisory responsibility for the management and operations of the Drafting Unit of the Office of Legislative Drafting and Legal Service, which shall, among others, include assisting the Director in:
• Providing legislative drafting services to the parliamentary service board, the speaker, leadership and the parliamentary service
• Ensuring that all draft legislation's meet standards of consistency and comprehensiveness, including uniform structure and format use of agreed upon drafting principles and appropriate legal language
• Providing legislative drafting services to the house and parliamentary committees in a professional and non-partisan manner
• Preparing written comments and analysis on Bills and legislative proposals, stating legal opinions where necessary
• Providing other services that may be required or assigned
Qualification Required & Experience
• Bachelor's of Law Degree from a recognized university plus a Barrister at Law (BL) qualification with at least 10 years of post qualification experience
• Applicants must be to work under pressure with minimum supervision
Other Requirements
Persons with experience in:
• Legislative drafting
• Parliamentary practice and procedure
• Must be a good team player
