Role Summary
• Reporting to the Manager – Mining, the successful candidate will provide strategic plans and technical support for the section whilst performing the duties of Long-term, medium-term and short-term planning activities of mining operations
Role Accountabilities
• Performs the duties of the short-term, medium-term and long-term planning and also monitoring activities of the mining operations
• Prepare mine plans and design which allows operations to meet or exceed budget productivity and ultilsation rate
• Develop 3-year long-term mine plans and designs, incorporate and communicate sound mining engineering, geological and geotechnical considerations and concepts
• Prepare detailed and realistic monthly, quarterly and annual production schedules in a timely and cost effective manner
• Update and review long-term plans and design to mitigate identified risk and incorporate new opportunities and challenges
• Assist in providing guidance on the dumping places on the short-to medium-term horizon and ensure that the 12 monthly forecasts are aligned to the long term waste dumping schedules
• Assist in developing annual mine plans and aid in budgets development
• Provide technical support to mining operation such that mine performance is optimised while providing a framework for continuous operating improvement
• Optimise efficiencies between mine quality, scheduling, drilling & blasting and loading & hauling operations
• Perform detailed study and analysis on criterial contractual KPIs covering as the minimum D&B, L&H, HME and Fuel Management
Qualification Required & Experience
• Minimum of tertiary qualification (Bsc or Diploma) in mining engineering from a recognised institution
• Minimum of 7 years experience in Mine planning field in the hard rock open pit environment
• Hands-on approach experience in both long-term and medium-term planning activities with Talpac, Xpac, Datamine, Selpac, Whittle software packages.
• Hands-on experience in mine financial modelling and preparation of mine budget estimates
• Registered or qualified to be registered as captain certificate of competence
• Certified by inspectorate division of the minerals commission of Ghana as a Mining Superintendent
• Medical fitness for the position, as well as the environment
• Possess valid Ghanaian driving license and ability to drive light vehicle
