Job Purpose

The Warehouse Assistant supports the safe and accurate receipt, storage, picking, loading and dispatch of the Company's food and beverage products. The position plays an important role in maintaining inventory accuracy, food-product safety, proper stock rotation, warehouse hygiene and prevention of product damage, expiry, theft and unexplained stock losses.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in receiving food and beverage products from suppliers, imported containers and stock transfers.
  • Physically count all incoming products before acceptance and compare quantities with invoices, delivery notes and other authorised documents.
  • Report shortages, excess quantities, damages, leakages or incorrect products immediately.
  • Arrange inventory according to product category, brand, pack size, batch and expiry date.
  • Apply FEFO strictly to food and beverage products with expiry dates and FIFO where appropriate.
  • Identify and immediately report short-dated and near-expiry products.
  • Pick customer orders accurately according to approved invoices or picking lists and check product description, pack size, quantity, batch and expiry date before dispatch.
  • Assist in loading delivery vehicles and ensure quantities loaded correspond with approved documentation.
  • Prevent unauthorised stock from leaving the warehouse and receive returned products only according to approved Company procedures.
  • Separate saleable, damaged, returned, expired and quarantined products.
  • Participate in daily cycle counts, monthly stock counts and other physical inventory exercises and report stock discrepancies immediately.
  • Maintain appropriate stacking standards to prevent crushing, breakage and damage and keep aisles, entrances and emergency exits clear.
  • Maintain high standards of warehouse cleanliness and hygiene.
  • Protect food and beverage products from moisture, excessive heat, pests, contamination and other storage hazards and report any signs of infestation, water leakage, damaged packaging or contamination.
  • Assist with unloading imported containers and delivery vehicles and handle cartons, bottles and cans carefully to minimise breakage, leakage and wastage.
  • Immediately report suspected theft, fraud, stock manipulation or unauthorised movement.
  • Protect Company warehouse equipment and other assets and follow occupational health and safety procedures.
  • Support authorised Company assignments or stock movement outside Kumasi when required.
  • Carry out any additional Warehouse duties assigned by the Warehouse Supervisor, Operations Executive or Management.

Job Requirements & Qualifications

  • SHS/WASSCE, Technical Certificate, Diploma or equivalent qualification.
  • Previous experience in a food and beverage warehouse, FMCG distribution company or logistics environment is preferred.
  • Ability to read product descriptions, quantities, batch information and expiry dates accurately.
  • Good basic numerical skills.
  • Understanding of food-product handling and warehouse hygiene is an advantage.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding Warehouse duties.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work effectively in a team.
  • High level of honesty, reliability and discipline.
  • Willingness to comply strictly with stock-control and warehouse procedures.
  • Must be willing and able to work full-time in Kumasi.
  • Must be willing to support authorised Company assignments or stock movement outside Kumasi when required.

Mandatory Guarantor Requirement

Every successful applicant must provide a minimum of two (2) qualified guarantors who satisfy all conditions specified in the Infant Prodigy Ltd Guarantor Form. One guarantor must be an immediate family member and the second must be a non-family member. All guarantors must provide the required identification and supporting documents and must be available for verification by Infant Prodigy Ltd. Employment shall not be fully confirmed until the guarantor verification process has been satisfactorily completed.

  • The employee must maintain high standards of honesty, integrity, professionalism and accountability.
  • The employee must protect Company inventory, cash, vehicles, equipment, documents and other assets entrusted to him or her.
  • The employee must comply with Company policies, food and beverage handling procedures, inventory controls and lawful Management instructions.
  • The employee must maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
  • The employee must undertake authorized travel outside Kumasi when required for duties relevant to the position.
