UMAA is seeking to employ a qualified, experienced and motivated Mine Foreman to join our Mining Team. This is an Obuasi-based fixed-term position with a competitive work roster. The remuneration package includes an attractive salary and performance-based incentive payments for the successful candidate.

Reporting to the Mine Superintendent, the successful candidate will lead Shift Bosses to optimise resources and ensure safe execution of short- and medium-term plans.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Uphold company Principles.

  • Lead, organise and develop operational teams to deliver production targets safely, efficiently and to required mining standards.

  • Translate monthly plans into 7/21 operational plans and assess the feasibility of quarterly plans against capacity and constraints.

  • Monitor daily and weekly plan adherence, address bottlenecks and initiate tactical replanning when constraints exceed the shift window.

  • Coordinate priorities across production, maintenance, transportation and safety, escalating issues beyond the tactical scope.

  • Map and optimise underground resources, logistics, people, materials and equipment, maintaining a single reliable operational view.

  • Conduct time and motion studies and analyse fleet productivity, cycle efficiency, route availability and stoppage impacts.

  • Monitor stoping sequences, operator performance and resource utilisation to meet targets and minimise waste.

  • Provide Planning and Engineering support for short- and medium-term planning decisions.

  • Review operational indicators, agree corrective actions and communicate decisions, responsibilities and deadlines.

  • Coordinate and approve change windows affecting essential services and ensure accurate, timely operational reporting.

  • Implement business improvements, capture lessons learned and support training, mentoring and effective employee relations.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or Production Engineering, with active professional registration where applicable.

  • Must possess a valid Mine Captain certificate.

  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in operational logistics, preferably in underground mining.

  • Sound experience in underground mining systems.

  • Advanced knowledge of operational planning and control, including 7/21, 3MS and quarterly planning.

  • Experience in time and motion studies, flow optimisation, fleet productivity analysis and performance monitoring.

  • Ability to integrate technical and operational data and interpret production, safety and quality indicators.

  • Strong leadership and coordination skills, with the ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and develop employees.

  • Clear communication, sound judgement and the ability to resolve conflicts and prioritise under pressure.

  • High integrity and impartiality, with a strong commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement.

  • Valid Ghanaian manual driving licence, as required by the site.

  • Ability to work underground and travel between work areas, meeting site medical and functional capacity requirements.
