Optavel is a technology startup building modern software products focused on artificial intelligence, productivity, business operations, and intelligent digital experiences.

We are launching the Optavel Developer Internship Program, a recurring three-month programme designed to help promising developers gain real-world software engineering experience while contributing to products we are actively building.

This is not a traditional internship built around tutorials and theoretical training.

Our approach is simple: Learn → Build → Review → Improve → Ship.

We plan to run new cohorts approximately every three months, creating a growing ecosystem of developers who learn, contribute, and grow with Optavel.

The Opportunity

We are looking for 3 Full-Stack Developer Interns for our first cohort.

This is a fully remote, unpaid, 3-month internship requiring approximately 20 hours per week (4 hours per day).

You will work as part of a small engineering cohort, collaborate with the Optavel development team, receive mentorship, and contribute to real product development.

You will begin working with real projects early in the programme rather than spending weeks only in training.

What You'll Do

You will:

• Build and improve real web applications.
• Develop frontend features using React and Next.js.
• Work with backend functionality, APIs, databases, and authentication.
• Work with Supabase and PostgreSQL-based systems.
• Integrate third-party APIs and services.
• Build responsive and user-friendly interfaces.
• Write clean, maintainable code.
• Use Git and GitHub, branches, pull requests, and code reviews.
• Debug and test applications.
• Collaborate with other developers to plan and deliver features.
• Research technical problems and propose solutions.
• Contribute to AI-powered features within our products.
• Use modern AI tools as part of your software engineering workflow.

You won't just be completing assignments. You will contribute to real products and real engineering problems.

Our Technology Stack

Our development environment is primarily centered around modern JavaScript/TypeScript technologies.

Experience with the following is highly relevant:

• JavaScript / TypeScript
• React
• Next.js
• Supabase
• PostgreSQL
• REST APIs
• Git / GitHub
• Modern frontend and backend development

You do not need to know everything listed above. We care about strong fundamentals, your ability to build, and your willingness to learn.

AI-Native Development

Because Optavel builds AI-focused products, being comfortable with AI is an important part of this internship.

We are looking for developers who understand how AI can be used both inside products and as part of the development process.

You should be familiar with using AI tools to:

• Assist with coding and development.
• Research technical problems.
• Debug and understand code.
• Improve productivity.
• Review and refine AI-generated code.
• Build or integrate AI-powered features.

Experience with AI APIs, LLMs, prompt engineering, RAG, embeddings, or AI agents is a strong advantage.

You don't need to be an AI/ML expert. We want you to be curious, practical, and willing to build with AI.

Who We're Looking For

We are looking for aspiring full-stack developers, not candidates focused exclusively on frontend or backend.

You should:

• Have a solid foundation in JavaScript or TypeScript.
• Have experience with React and/or Next.js.
• Have built at least one personal, academic, or team project.
• Understand basic frontend, backend, API, and database concepts.
• Have some experience with Git/GitHub.
• Be interested in AI-powered software development.
• Be comfortable learning independently.
• Be able to research and solve problems.
• Be open to code reviews and constructive feedback.
• Communicate clearly and work well remotely.
• Take ownership of your work.

You can be a Computer Science/Software Engineering student, recent graduate, self-taught developer, or junior developer.

We care more about what you can build, how you think, and how quickly you learn than where you learned to code.

How the Programme WorksWeeks 1–2 — Discover

• Optavel onboarding

Weeks 3–6 — Build

• Work on real product features
• Frontend/backend development
• APIs and databases
• AI integrations where applicable
• Pull requests and code reviews

Weeks 7–10 — Ship

• Greater ownership of features
• Testing and debugging
• Technical problem solving
• Collaboration and product delivery

Weeks 11–12 — Demonstrate

• Complete major contributions
• Document your work
• Present your work during Optavel Demo Day
• Final performance review

The programme is project-driven rather than classroom-driven. You learn the technology you need while building.

Mentorship

You will work under the guidance of the Optavel engineering team.

The programme includes:

• Regular technical guidance
• Code reviews
• Individual progress check-ins
• Group technical discussions
• Feedback and mentorship

Our goal is not to give you every answer. It is to help you become a developer who can think, research, solve problems, and build independently.
