Lead: Analytics Developer - Ecobank

Job Purpose

Reporting to the Head, Data & Analytics / Business Information Management, the Lead, analytics developer will be responsible for leading the design, development, and delivery of analytics solutions and Insights that support strategic decision-making across the Group.

The role is primarily focused on BI development and analytics delivery, with strong emphasis on data visualization, and business insight generation. The role also requires a solid understanding of banking operations and financial metrics, enabling effective translation of business requirements into meaningful analytics outputs alongside stakeholder engagement.

The resource ensures that analytics solutions are accurate, scalable, business-relevant, and aligned to enterprise data platforms, driving a consistent and trusted view of performance across the organization.

JOB CONTEXT

This position operates in a highly collaborative environment, requiring strong engagement with business and functional stakeholders across various hierarchies in the organization. It demands the ability to translate business needs into actionable analytics, supported by a good understanding of banking operations and financial metrics, while leading BI delivery and working closely with data engineering and platform teams to ensure alignment between data pipelines and analytics outputs.

Key Responsibilities

Strategically

• Drive the enterprise BI and reporting strategy, ensuring alignment with business performance and decision-making needs
• Define and standardize KPIs, reporting frameworks, and dashboard structures across the group
• Lead the design of end-to-end BI solutions, from data model to visualization layer
• Promote adoption of data visualization best practices and self-service analytics capabilities
• Partner with business leaders to identify opportunities where analytics can improve performance, efficiency, and decision-making
• Ensure analytics solutions support financial reporting, regulatory requirements, and performance management across the Group

Tactically and Operationally

• Lead the end-to-end development and delivery of BI solutions, including dashboards, reports, and analytics tools
• Design and develop high-quality Power BI dashboards and reports, ensuring strong usability, performance, and insight generation
• Translate business requirements into data models, metrics, and visualizations that support actionable insights
• Develop and maintain robust semantic and dimensional data models for reporting
• Ensure consistency and accuracy of financial and operational reporting outputs
• Implement strong data validation and quality assurance processes for all analytics deliverables
• Work closely with data engineering teams to ensure alignment between data pipelines and reporting layers
• Optimize BI solutions for performance, scalability, and reusability
• Provide ongoing support, enhancement, and optimization of existing reports and dashboards
• Guide the team in applying best practices in Data visualization, Data modelling, Insight generation and storytelling
• Manage team workload, priorities, and delivery timelines to meet business expectations
• Ensure compliance with data governance, security, and regulatory standards in all reporting outputs
• Remain current on industry trends and best practices, and inform the future direction of our data vision, architecture, and strategy

JOB PROFILE

Experience & Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years of experience in BI development, analytics, or data visualization roles
• Minimum 3 years in a leadership or team management capacity
• Strong track record of delivering enterprise BI and reporting solutions
• Proven experience in Power BI development (mandatory and critical)
• Strong experience in SQL and data modelling (dimensional modelling, semantic layers)
• Good working knowledge of cloud data platforms and cloud based visualization tools
• Strong understanding of banking operations, financial performance metrics, and regulatory reporting frameworks (is an advantage).
• Good working knowledge of data governance, metadata management, data lineage, and data security practices, including regulatory compliance considerations
• Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into business-relevant insights
• Experience within financial services or a regulated environment is highly preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, or related field

• Professional certifications (Azure, Data Engineering, Architecture)
• Bilingual (English + French or other African language)
• Experience working in pan-African or multi-country environments

• Experience within financial services or regulated environments is preferred.
• Strong expertise in SQL and database technologies (SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL).
• Hands-on experience with BI tools such as Power BI, Qlik, or Business Objects.
• Solid understanding of data warehousing, ETL processes, and data modelling.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and presentation capabilities.
