EBL Legal Placement & Performance is a boutique legal talent firm that places exceptional paralegals, legal assistants, and legal administrators into premier U.S. law firms. We are not a staffing agency we are a performance partner. The professionals we place are coached, supported, and held to the standards of the firms we serve. 

  • Reports To: CEO/ General Manager 
  • Work Location:  Remote EBL Legal local office in Accra, Ghana
  • Client:  Premier U.S. Law Firm (assigned upon placement)

As a Paralegal placed through EBL Legal, you will perform substantive billable legal work under the direction of one or more attorneys at the U.S. law firm you are assigned to. Your primary role is to support the firm's attorneys with legal research, drafting, document preparation, discovery, and trial readiness — delivering quality service that adds real value to the firm's clients.

You will be an employee of EBL Legal Placement & Performance, Ghana, working virtually from our Accra office and embedded into the daily operations of your assigned U.S. law firm. EBL Legal provides ongoing coaching, performance support, and professional development to ensure your sustained success in the role. 

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will be expected to: 

  • Maintain, update, and organize case files, including all electronic filing systems 
  • Manage docketing and scheduling of legal events, hearings, and deadlines 
  • Complete and process legal forms with accuracy and attention to detail 
  • Draft letters, simple court documents, and routine correspondence 
  • Customize standard legal forms and templates to meet case-specific needs 
  • Prepare written reports, memoranda, and legal documents 
  • Conduct thorough research on laws, regulations, and judicial decisions — both current and historical 
  • Assist attorneys in preparing cases for hearings, depositions, and trial 
  • Communicate professionally with clients to provide updates and gather case-relevant information 
  • Draft motions, pleadings, and other court documents under attorney supervision 
  • Prepare discovery requests and responses to discovery demands 
  • Meet with clients to review discovery responses and case documentation 
  • Assist attorneys with initial client strategy sessions and case intake 
  • Assign, oversee, and quality-check work performed by legal assistants 
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the firm or EBL Legal leadership 

Required Skills or Experience

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent legal qualification. 
  • Previous experience as a paralegal, legal assistant, legal intern or corporate/legal support officer will be an added advantage. 

Preferred Experience

  • Previous experience working in a law firm environment 
  • Background as a legal secretary or legal assistant (strongly preferred) 
  • Experience supporting U.S.-based attorneys or law firms is an added advantage. 
  • Familiarity with U.S. legal procedures, court systems, and documentation standards is an added advantage.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong working knowledge of legal terminology, procedures, and documentation 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and legal case management software 
  • Strong legal research and analytical skills.  
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.  
  • Good drafting, proofreading and document formatting skills.  
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information.  
  • Good organisational and time management skills.  
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.  
  • Professional attitude, integrity and willingness to learn.  
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
