Opportunity

DORAKO Fleet & Logistics is seeking for a qualified professional to occupy the role of a Logistics Manager who will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing the movement, maintenance, and utilization of trucks and equipment to ensure efficient, safe, and cost-effective operations.

Duties and Responsibilities

The hired candidate will be responsible for the following:  

1. Fleet Management

• Oversee daily operations of trucks and equipment 
• Ensure optimal allocation and utilization of fleet assets 
• Monitor vehicle performance, fuel consumption, and mileage 
• Maintain accurate fleet records (licenses, insurance, inspections) 

2. Maintenance & Repairs

• Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules 
• Coordinate repairs and servicing of trucks and equipment 
• Ensure minimal downtime and quick turnaround on breakdowns 
• Liaise with workshops, mechanics, and suppliers 

3. Logistics Planning & Operations

• Plan and schedule transportation activities 
• Optimize routes and delivery timelines 
• Ensure timely dispatch and delivery of goods/equipment 
• Manage loading/unloading operations efficiently 

4. Compliance & Safety

• Ensure compliance with transport regulations and safety standards 
• Enforce health and safety policies for drivers and operators 
• Monitor driver behavior and adherence to safety procedures 
• Ensure all vehicles meet regulatory requirements 

5. Driver & Operator Management

• Supervise drivers and equipment operators 
• Coordinate recruitment, training, and performance management 
• Prepare duty rosters and manage attendance 
• Handle disciplinary issues where necessary 

6. Cost Control & Budgeting

• Prepare and manage logistics and fleet budgets 
• Monitor fuel usage and reduce operational costs 
• Negotiate with vendors and service providers 
• Identify cost-saving opportunities 

7. Inventory & Asset Management

• Track spare parts, tools, and equipment inventory 
• Ensure proper storage and usage of materials 
• Maintain asset registers and usage logs 

8. Reporting & Documentation

• Prepare regular reports on fleet performance and operations 
• Maintain logistics records, contracts, and documentation 
• Provide data for management decision-making 

Required Skills or Experience

Qualification Required & Experience

• At least a Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Transport Management, Engineering, or related field 
• Strong knowledge of transport regulations and fleet maintenance 
• Candidate must have at least four years (excluding national service) in in fleet/logistics management (preferably trucks & heavy equipment) 
• Experience with logistics or fleet management systems is an advantage
• Candidates without these years of experience will be automatically rejected.  
• Must be fluent in English, with strong written and oral communication skills.   
• Candidate must be proactive, dedicated, performance-driven, and capable of working with limited supervision.  
• The candidate must demonstrate experience as a team leader/player.  
• The candidate must be assertive, a good listener, critical thinker and self-motivated.  
• Skillful at planning and organizing under complex conditions.

• Good communication and negotiation skills
• Analytical and cost management skills 
• Knowledge of vehicle mechanics (basic to intermediate) 

Duration

The position will be for a period of 1 year, subject to yearly renewal, and contingent on good performance, and availability of funding for the role.
