Young Developers for Development (YoungDevs) is recruiting an experienced and results-driven Accounts & Finance Manager to lead financial management and compliance for the FemFocus/PREWWA Project, a multi-country, gender-responsive initiative supporting women- and youth-led enterprises across West Africa.
This position is contingent upon funding approval.
About the Role
The Accounts & Finance Manager will be responsible for ensuring sound financial stewardship, donor compliance, transparent reporting, and robust internal controls across all project operations. The role requires strong experience in managing complex, donor-funded programmes and multi-country financial systems.
The successful candidate will play a critical leadership role in safeguarding financial integrity, managing risk, and ensuring that project resources translate into measurable impact.

Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Management & Oversight
- Lead financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting for the FemFocus/PREWWA Project.
- Develop and manage annual and multi-year project budgets.
- Monitor expenditure against approved budgets and provide variance analysis.
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting to management and donors.
2. Donor Compliance & Grant Management
- Ensure compliance with donor regulations, grant agreements, and financial reporting standards.
- Prepare financial reports aligned with donor templates and audit requirements.
- Support grant budgeting processes and review partner financial submissions.
- Maintain documentation in accordance with audit and due diligence standards.
3. Internal Controls & Risk Management
- Strengthen and enforce internal financial control systems.
- Oversee procurement compliance and payment authorization processes.
- Implement fraud prevention and risk mitigation mechanisms.
- Ensure financial policies are adhered to across all programme units.
4. Accounting & Financial Reporting
- Oversee bookkeeping, ledger management, and reconciliations.
- Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements.
- Coordinate external audits and support audit follow-up actions.
- Maintain strong financial documentation and archiving systems.
5. Partner Financial Oversight
- Review and validate financial reports from in-country partners.
- Build partner capacity in financial management and donor compliance.
- Conduct spot checks and financial monitoring visits where necessary.
6. Team Leadership & Coordination
- Supervise finance team members and build internal capacity.
- Work closely with the Grants Specialist, MEL team, and Project Manager to ensure financial and programmatic alignment.
- Provide financial advisory support to senior management and the Board where required.

Required Qualifications & Experience
- Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field (or equivalent professional qualification).
- Professional certification (ACCA, CA, CPA or equivalent) strongly preferred.
- Minimum 7–10 years of progressive experience in financial management.
- Proven experience managing donor-funded or multi-country grants.
- Strong knowledge of financial compliance, procurement, and audit processes.
- Demonstrated experience with financial reporting systems and accounting software.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and integrity.
- Experience working in gender, youth, or development-focused programmes is an advantage.
