ABOUT THE ROLE

The Facilities Technician (Electrical) is responsible for supporting the maintenance, safety, and continuous improvement of company facilities and electrical systems. The role supports the Facilities Engineer in executing preventive and corrective maintenance activities, conducting inspections, and carrying out electrical installations and repairs. The Facilities Technician plays a key role in ensuring that buildings, equipment, and workspaces are safe, functional, and well-maintained. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in the execution of the facility's preventive and corrective maintenance schedule. 
  • Conduct daily facility inspections and routine checks. 
  • Carry out periodic (scheduled) facility assessments and inspections in collaboration with the Facilities 
  • Engineer. 
  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical power, lighting, and control systems within the facility. 
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, blueprints, and technical diagrams. 
  • Prepare work areas for subcontractors, including provision of temporary lighting and power supply for job 
  • execution. 
  • Identify and promptly report facility issues that may affect the health, safety, or well-being of persons on the 
  • premises to the Facilities Engineer. 
  • Repair or replace wiring, equipment, fittings, and fixtures using appropriate hand and power tools. 
  • Inspect and maintain electrical components such as transformers, circuit breakers, panels, and distribution 
  • boards. 
  • Install, operate, and understand the workings of Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems. 
  • Support hazard resolution by escalating defects, risks, and repair needs to the Facilities Engineer for action. 
  • Perform all duties in compliance with company policies, procedures, and approved budget allocations. 
  • Carry out any other related duties as assigned.

OHSE RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Knowledge of and adherence to all TAGG’s OHS&E procedures  
  • Follow all safe work procedures, rules, and instructions 
  • Risk Assessment  
  • Hazard identification and reporting 
  • Knowledge of the safe use of all tools and equipment as applicable  

Required Skills or Experience

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Higher National Diploma (HND) in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related technical discipline.  
  • Minimum of 2–5 years’ hands-on experience in facilities maintenance or a related technical role, with strong electrical training and practical experience. 
  • Proven experience in electrical troubleshooting, fault diagnostics, and preventive maintenance. 
  • Experience working in commercial buildings, industrial facilities, or estates management is an added advantage. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Strong technical and practical electrical skills. 
  • Good verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team. 
  • Planning, organizational, and time management skills. 
  • Basic IT literacy. 
  • Close attention to detail and accuracy. 
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities. 
  • Ability to complete tasks within agreed timelines and priorities.
