Job Purpose
HOLIDO is seeking committed and self-motivated team players to join a team of experts as Community Animator to implement a 3-year project that seeks to eliminate harmful practices and promote health and wellbeing of women and children along the border regions of Ghana, Burkina Faso and Togo.

The Animator shall be responsible for promoting the rights of women and girls and sensitising community members to stop violence against women and eliminate harmful traditional practices against women, particularly Female Genital Mutilation (FGM). The position is accountable to the District Supervisor and Programmes Coordinator.
As a key member of the project team, the Animator will be responsible for conducting investigations and securing reliable, timely and actionable information concerning the practice of excision within the district.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities
- Develop monthly work plans and weekly work itineraries
- Prepare timely and quality monthly activity reports
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all investigations, investigative strategies, and other privileged and sensitive information
- Identify and document reasons behind the continuous violence against women and girls (FGM)
- To raise awareness through the innovative strategies for the elimination of female circumcision and other harmful practices in the district.
- Perform any other official duties assigned by superiors
Required Skills or Experience
Education
- HND or Diploma in Development Studies, Education, Program Management or any related field.
- A bachelor’s degree is an added advantage
Experience
- At least three years work experience working in community development or NGOs
- Experience using Social Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) and other participatory development approaches
Language Requirements
Fluency in spoken and written English and one or more dominant local languages of the operational area.

Competencies
- Excellent verbal and written communication including written and spoken fluency in at least one local language of project district
- Demonstrated ability to organize, plan, and carry out activities within deadlines
- Should possess excellent analytical, monitoring, evaluation, project management and report writing skills
- Must be proactive, results-oriented, innovative, versatile and self- motivated.
- Familiarity and experience working with NGOs / CSOs in Ghana
- Willingness to stay and work in the project district and work in hard-to-reach areas
- Strong team player with the ability to quickly establish and build effective working relationships with people at all levels, from different backgrounds
- Proactive approach to identifying and resolving problems
- Computer literate; proficient user of MS Office programmes including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
