JOB TITLE: Dispensary Technician
REPORTS TO: Pharmacist / Medical Director
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately dispense prescribed medications in a timely and professional manner.
- Provide patient counseling on the safe and effective use of medications, including dosage, side effects, and potential drug interactions.
- Collaborate with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal medication therapy and patient outcomes.
- Monitor patient drug therapy and provide recommendations for dosage adjustments or alternative medications when appropriate.
- Manage pharmacy inventory, including ordering, receiving, storage, and stock rotation to prevent shortages or expiries.
- Maintain accurate records of all prescriptions and pharmaceutical transactions in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Ensure adherence to all pharmacy regulations, hospital policies, and safety standards related to the handling and dispensing of medications.
- Participate in staff training sessions and educate hospital personnel on safe medication practices and pharmaceutical protocols.
Qualifications & Experience
- HND or Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy Technology or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a pharmacy or clinical setting.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and adherence to ethical standards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
