Job Description

COMPANY: PWSL 

JOB GRADE: OFFICER 

LINE MANAGER: FINANCE SUPERVISOR 

Role Profile

  • All other Staff
  • Banks
  • Statutory Organizations (CEPS, NPA, IRS, SSNIT, GRA etc.)
  • Depot representatives

Purpose Statement

  • Provide support and assist in developing systems for effective functioning of the Finance / Accounts Department.
  • Provide the Finance Supervisor and Manager with up-to-date financial information. Key Deliverables
  • Prepare bank reconciliation statements.
  • Preparation of ageing analysis for the Monday operational meetings.
  • Assisting in the preparation of management accounts when required.
  • Do the filing for the unit.
  • Update petty cash electronically.
  • Issue payments.
  • Prepare receipts.
  • Assisting in Budget Preparation.
  • Assisting in the preparation of wages and salaries.
  • Weekly ageing analysis preparation.
  • Record all bank transactions (lodgments & payments).
  • Preparation of payment and other vouchers.
  • Raise and post all Journal vouchers.
  • Ensure that proper accounting procedures are followed and assist in the preparation of weekly and monthly reports.
  • Monitor inventory of debtors and assist in credit control and debt recovery
  • Any other related duties that may be assigned from time to time.

Required Skills or Experience

Minimum Qualification/ Experience

  • A good First University Degree or its equivalent plus a Professional Certificate in Accounting, preferably ACCA, ICAG or its equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years cognate working experience (Post N.S.S) in finance with at least 1 year in a similar role.
  • On-going professional qualifications necessary. Knowledge/Skills:
  • Good knowledge of the various accounting packages.
  • Familiar with the audit and statutory requirements
  • Strong computer skills and knowledge of MS Office, particularly MS Excel Personality Traits:
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of appropriate internal controls.
  • Must be hard working.
  • Analytical problem-solving skills
  • Transparency, honesty and integrity
  • Good human relations and leadership qualities
  • Must have good interpersonal skills.
  • Must be assertive.
