Systems and Cloud Infrastructure Engineer - KNET Ghana

A Ghanaian Fintech Company is seeking a highly skilled Systems and Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to manage and secure our hybrid infrastructure across on-premise environments and cloud platforms (AWS and Azure).

As a fintech company delivering mission-critical payment solutions, security, availability, and compliance are at the core of our operations. The successful candidate will bring strong expertise in cybersecurity, network security, virtualization, Unix/Linux systems, and Windows Server administration, with hands-on experience in cloud engineering.

This role is both strategic and hands-on, ensuring that The Fintech Company’s platforms remain secure, compliant, and optimized for performance as we scale our digital financial services.

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure & Systems Management

• Design, deploy, and manage on-premise servers and hybrid infrastructure across AWS and Azure.
• Configure and administer virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V, AWS EC2, Azure VMs).
• Manage and maintain Unix/Linux servers (RedHat, Ubuntu, CentOS) and Windows Server environments.
• Ensure effective storage management, backups, disaster recovery, and business continuity.

Cloud Engineering

• Architect and operate secure, scalable, and cost-efficient AWS and Azure workloads.
• Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
• Monitor and optimize cloud performance, resource allocation, and cost usage.
• Ensure compliance with PCI DSS, ISO 27001, and other fintech security standards.

Security & Compliance

• Implement and maintain network security controls, firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS).
• Manage identity and access management (IAM, Azure AD, SSO, MFA).
• Conduct system hardening, patch management, and vulnerability assessments.
• Support regular security audits, penetration testing, and compliance reporting.

Networking

• Administer secure and reliable LAN/WAN, VPN tunnels, DNS, and load balancing for fintech systems.
• Troubleshoot network connectivity, latency, and performance issues across hybrid setups.
• Design and enforce network segmentation and zero-trust security models.

Collaboration & Support

• Collaborate with DevOps, software engineering, and product teams to ensure smooth deployment of applications.
• Provide Tier 3 escalation support for infrastructure, server, and security issues.
• Maintain detailed documentation of infrastructure designs, configurations, and standard operating procedures.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices within the IT team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (Master’s degree a plus).
• Minimum 5 years of experience in systems, cloud, or infrastructure engineering, preferably in fintech or financial services.
• Proven expertise in AWS (EC2, RDS, IAM, S3, VPC) and Azure (VMs, AD, SQL, Networking).
• Strong knowledge of Unix/Linux administration and Windows Server (2016/2019/2022).
• Advanced understanding of cybersecurity frameworks (NIST, CIS, ISO 27001).
• Hands-on experience with firewalls, VPNs, routing, switching, IDS/IPS, and endpoint security.
• Scripting and automation skills using PowerShell, Bash, Python, Terraform, or Ansible.
• Familiarity with fintech compliance standards such as PCI DSS, ISO 27001, and SOC 2.

Preferred Skills & Certifications

• AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Administrator, CCNP Security, CISSP, or CEH certifications.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, or other containerization platforms.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking with excellent communication skills.
