We currently have opportunities for driven National Service personnel to join our dynamic team. This is a unique opportunity to engage in meaningful projects, gaining hands-on experience in research, process development, and cross-disciplinary collaboration while contributing to a sustainable future.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in the design, development, and optimization of biomass conversion processes, including pyrolysis and other thermochemical techniques.
  • Design and optimize pyrolysis systems for biochar production, maximizing yield and carbon sequestration potential;
  • Develop process improvements for wood vinegar and other biomass-derived byproducts;
  • Scale enhanced weathering (EW) processes by analyzing mineral reactivity and carbonation kinetics;
  • Conduct lab/field trials to validate chemical processes under real-world conditions;
  • Model mass/energy balances for integrated biomass-to-energy-and-products systems;
  • Collaborate with farmers to adapt processes for local feedstocks and needs;
  • Ensure safety and environmental compliance in all chemical processes;
  • Analyze data to quantify CO? removal efficiency and co-benefits (e.g., soil pH adjustment);
  • Interface with equipment suppliers to customize solutions for decentralized operations;
  • Research novel applications for biochar (e.g., water filtration, construction materials);
  • Support carbon credit certification through rigorous process documentation

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Bachelor/Masters in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or related field
  • Strong foundation in thermodynamics, reaction kinetics, and transport phenomena
  • Experience with biomass conversion, mineral processing, or carbon capture technologies
  • Proficiency in process modeling tools (Aspen Plus, COMSOL, or similar)
  • Fieldwork aptitude – willing to work hands-on with pilot systems
  • Passion for circular economy and climate solutions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
