Underground Mining Alliance Akyem. (“UMAA”) is a Joint Venture between African Underground Mining Services Limited (AUMS) and Rocksure International carrying out underground development and production works for the AngloGold Ashanti (Obuasi) Mine.
Job Description
The Paste fill and Construction Crew is responsible for carrying out paste fill operations, underground construction, and backfilling activities in a safe, timely, and quality-assured manner, supporting production and ground control requirements in an underground mining environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Extend ventilation services to areas where needed, which includes hanging ventilation bags and moving and/or installing secondary fans
- Install paste and extend water, air and pump pipe services to areas where needed
- Assist Service Crew with ventilation duct installation
- Inspect pipe network for leaks, damage
- Installation and removal of steel paste pipes
- Construction of ventilation/paste walls and underground infrastructure
- Maintain and repair services and equipment such as vent bags, poly pipe and valves
- Hand installation and grouting of cable bolts (underground cables)
- Installation of underground infrastructure (steel structures)
- Construction of ventilation walls
- Installation of remote operated equipment infrastructure.
- Previous experience working as Paste Crew;
- Install paste bulk-heads, pumps, reticulation
Required Skills or Experience
- Must have a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in underground mining, two (2) of which have been as a Paste Crew or Service Screw.
- Substantial knowledge of underground practices
- Must have a proactive attitude toward safety and hazard identification.
- Willingness to assist other crew members while being able to work independently
- Must possess a valid Ghanaian driving and operating licenses (C & E Classes) and can drive underground.
- Must demonstrate strong work ethics and be able to communicate courteously with co-workers
- Ability to work under pressure and have the desire to achieve.
- Extensive experience working in underground mining;
- Ability to work in a cross-cultural environment
- Ability to workday and night rotation
