About the Job

As our Industrial Mechanic, you’ll play a key role in Warc’s success. This year alone we’re expecting to work with 40,000 farmers across 5 districts in the Upper West Region – and it’s only going to keep going up each year.
You’ll be responsible for maintaining and repairing mechanical systems on grain silos and related equipment to ensure safe and efficient storage operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect machines regularly to find and fix problems early
  • Assemble and dismantle mechanical components on silo systems
  • Read and understand mechanical drawings related to silo machinery
  • Lubricate parts such as bearings, chains, gears, and other moving mechanical parts
  • Adjust belt and chain tensioners used in grain conveying systems
  • Align pulleys and gears to ensure proper movement and operation
  • Carry out regular maintenance on mechanical transmission systems (cleaning casings, replacing worn belts/chains, detecting wear)
  • Overhaul and repair motors and gearboxes used in silo operations (e.g., cleaning housings, replacing bearings)
  • Perform basic welding for minor structural repairs on silo equipment
  • Support regular inspections and report issues to the Technical and Maintenance Manager
  • Ensure all work is done safely and efficiently to avoid downtime

Required Skills or Experience

  • Education: Must have completed Senior High School (WASSCE) with passes in relevant technical subjects.
  • Certifications: Must possess a recognised technical or vocational certificate in mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • Experience: At least 4 years of hands-on experience as a mechanic in an industrial setting (experience working with silo or grain storage systems will be advantage)
  • Skills: Proficiency in reading mechanical drawings, using hand and power tools, good understanding of motor and gearbox maintenance, and performing basic welding.
  • Attributes: Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and commitment to safety.
