Job Description
- POSITION TYPE: Full Time, Local Hire
- DURATION: 1 year with extension
- LOCATION: Accra, Ghana (note that Project HOPE will not be covering relocation expenses)
- POSITION TITLE: Driver/ Office clerk
- DIVISION: Global Health
- REPORTS TO: Administrative Officer

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. TRANSPORTING STAFF AND GOODS
- STAFF TRANSPORTATION. Safely transporting staff to and from offices, meetings, field locations or partner organizations, adhering to the set schedules and routes.
- TRANSPORTING MATERIALS. Carrying essential materials such as equipment, medical supplies, food and other goods to and from HQ, projects sites or beneficiaries.
- HANDLING OF FRAGILE OR SENSITIVE MATERIALS. Ensuring that fragile or sensitive items such as medical equipment, documents or valuable supplies are transported with the utmost care and responsibility.
2. VEHICLE MAINTENANCE AND MANAGEMENT
- VEHICLE UPKEEP. Regularly inspecting the vehicle to ensure it is in good working condition, including checking the engine, brakes, tires and oil levels
- ROUTINE MAINTENANCE. Carrying out basic maintenance tasks, such as washing the vehicle, cleaning the interior, and ensuring the vehicles are stocked with necessary supplies ( e.g. First aid kit, spare tire, tools)
- REPORTING ISSUES. Reporting any mechanical issues, accidents, or damage to the vehicle to the relevant supervisor for repair or replacement
- FUEL MANAGEMENT. Monitoring fuel levels and refueling vehicles as required and ensuring proper fuel accountability and records are maintained.
3. LOGISTICS AND PLANNING.
- ROUTE PLANNING. Planning the best routes for transporting staff and materials taking into account road conditions, weather, safety concerns, and security issues. (particularly in conflict zones or areas with limited infrastructures)
4. SAFETY AND SECURITY
- SAFE DRIVING. Ensuring safe driving practices in accordance e with local traffic regulations and law,
- SECURITY AWERENESS. Being aware of security risks and changes in the local environment, reporting any security incidents, roadblocks, or potential hazards to the relevant authorities.
- EMERGENCY RESPONSE. In case of an emergency, such as an accident, providing basic first aid or ensuring the injured are transported to the nearest medical facility
5. RECORD KEEPING AND REPORTING.
- VEHICLE LOGBOOK. Keeping accurate records of daily trips, including the destination, purpose of the trip, mileage, fuel usage and other incidents.
- TREVEL REPORTS. Submitting timely reports of vehicle usage, maintenance needs, and transportation issues to the logistics and fleet management team
6. COMPLIANCE AND DOCUMENTATION
- DRIVER’S LICENSE AND PERMITS. Ensuring that the driver's license and any necessary permits (e.g. For crossing borders, driving heavy vehicles) are up to date and comply with local regulations.
7. ADHERENCE TO HEALTH AND SAFETY REGULTIONS
- HEALTH AND SAFETY COMPLAINCE. Ensuring that the vehicle is compliant with health and safety regulations such as seatbelt use, child safety, and safety equipment in the vehicle eg fire extinguisher first aid and kit)
- DEFENSIVE DRIVING. practicing defensive driving techniques to prevent accidents especially in high risks or unstable routes or roads.
8. CLERICAL DUTIES
- Assist the Finance, Administration, Procurement, and Human Resources units in any procedural, clerical, administrative and operational support tasks as required;
9. Perform other duties assigned.
