Position Summary

The Engineering department (Village & Accommodation and Crushers sections) of Tarkwa Gold Mine seeks to employ an experienced and outstanding individual to fill a Charge Hand – Electrical position. The successful applicant will maintain both fixed and mobile plants such that faults are identified and repaired in a responsible, safe, efficient and effective manner to achieve equipment availability and reliability, according to standards and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe and friendly environment to ensure effective engineering standards and procedures are developed and implemented in compliance with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 requirements
  • Execute daily routine work strictly according to standards and procedures
  • Maintain a comprehensive record/file of applicable standards and procedures
  • Carry out routine maintenance, stripping and assembling of crushers and other ancillary equipment
  • Undertake daily routine fault tracing and maintenance of machines and report back to the supervisor
  • Collate inputs from peers to enhance continuous improvement and also suggest improved ways of performing tasks

Key Requirements

  • Minimum of NVTI Certificate or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering from a recognised institution
  • A minimum of five (5) years’ work experience in the mining industry
  • Must have a Mincom Inspecting certificate of competency and be familiar with the Ghana Minerals and Mining (Health Safety and Technical) Regulations, 2012 (L.I. 2182).
  • Working knowledge of the Ghana Energy Commission, IEC, NEMA and the SAN, ISO inspection standards
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills in English language and the ability to interact with people of diverse cultures and levels
  • Ability to work for long hours under strenuous conditions, with a result-oriented attitude and should be able to work with less or no supervision
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and SAP is required
  • Valid Ghanaian driver’s license and proficiency in driving light vehicles.
