Title: Principal Officer, Research & Innovation
Reports To: Head, Research & Innovation
Job Summary:
Supports the Head of Unit in driving the organisation’s research and innovation agenda, with a focus on sectoral intelligence, evidence-based decision-making, and the development of new tools, processes, and policies that enhance the gold sector’s competitiveness and integrity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct research on industry trends, regulatory developments, and innovation opportunities across the gold value chain.
- Develop policy briefs, technical papers, and reports to inform strategic decision-making.
- Support innovation projects and pilots aimed at improving transparency, traceability, and efficiency in gold production and trade.
- Collaborate with academia, think tanks, and development partners on joint research initiatives.
- Track global best practices and advise on their application to national or institutional contexts.
Qualification Required & Experience
Skills and Qualification Requirement:

- Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Public Policy, Development Studies, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of seven (7) years’ relevant experience in research, innovation management, or policy development.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in research design, data analysis, and report writing.
- Knowledge of the extractives sector, sustainability frameworks, and innovation systems.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills with a high standard of integrity.
