Bunge is seeking a highly motivated Boiler Operations Support to join our diverse team in Tema, Ghana. This role supports the Boiler Operator to ensure the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of the plant's boiler system, maintaining a consistent steam supply critical for production processes. This position focuses on practical, hands-on assistance with fuel management, biomass handling, and basic boiler monitoring.

Main Accountabilities:

  • Fuel Management: Liaise with the Utilities Supervisor to ensure adequate biomass fuel stock levels are maintained to prevent production interruptions. This includes basic forecasting of fuel needs based on provided production schedules and coordinating fuel deliveries.
  • Biomass Handling: Manage and oversee the delivery and transfer of biomass fuel. This involves directing trucks during offloading, ensuring efficient transfer of biomass from storage to the boiler hopper, and minimizing material waste.
  • Boiler Operations Monitoring: Perform routine checks and monitor key boiler operating parameters, including ash levels in the ash hopper, external boiler conditions, and manual gauge readings. Record data accurately in logs and report any anomalies to the Boiler Operator.
  • Maintenance Support: Assist the boiler team with basic preventative and corrective maintenance tasks on the biomass boiler, such as cleaning, lubrication, and other tasks as directed by the Boiler Operator.
  • Housekeeping: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment within the boiler house, adhering to all safety regulations and company standards.

Education & Experience:

  • Basic NVTI Certification (or equivalent) in a related technical field (e.g., Mechanical Technician).
  • Minimum of 1 year of practical, hands-on experience in an industrial environment. This is a junior role, ideal for someone with a mechanical technician background seeking practical experience.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Behaviour: Demonstrate a strong work ethic and commitment to safety. Take initiative, pay attention to details, and collaborate well within a team. Demonstrate a willingness to learn and develop new skills.
  • Technical: Proficient in completing accurate log sheet reports. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel for data entry. Competent in the safe and effective use of basic hand tools. Familiarity with basic boiler operation principles and a commitment to following safety procedures. English language proficiency is required.
