Smart4Energy have partnered up with an international OEM manufacturer who are currently in the market for a General Manager: Sales & Marketing for one of their business units based in Accra, Ghana.
As the General Manager: Sales & Marketing, you will report directly to the CEO and play a pivotal role in developing and implementing strategies to enhance market presence and revenue growth.
Responsibilities:
Sales & Supply Chain Management:
- Develop and implement innovative sales strategies to achieve revenue targets and expand the market share in West Africa.
- Conduct periodic reviews with function heads on sales pipeline and forecast as well on production plan adherence.
- Conceptualize and guide special projects within technical operations to attain operational excellence.
- Oversee sales and marketing budgets, ensuring cost-effectiveness and alignment with business objectives.

Marketing:
- Prepare, review and pool resources with other members of the management team to review business development, upcoming marketing opportunities and strategies to increase workflow and productivity.
- Identify and explore new business opportunities, markets, and partnerships to drive sustainable growth within West Africa.
- Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to inform strategic decision-making.
Strategy, Planning, and Budgeting:
- Develop a strategic plan for the business and review annually to ensure relevance.
- Team management - Review and drive the teams performance to ensure they are aligned to the strategies implemented.
- Develop objectives and key performance indicators for the team aligned to the organizational goals.
Finance Management:
- Provide regular performance updates, sales forecasts, and market insights to the executive management team.
- Prepare, review, and adjust financial budget for staffing requirements.
- Review and approve all overhead and project based invoices for payment.
- Drive any commercial negotiations to optimize costs.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Sales, or a related field (MBA preferred).
- A minimum of 20 years' experience in sales and marketing with a steel manufacturer.
- A minimum of 10 years' experience as a Senior Manager within the steel sector.
- Strong understanding of steel tubes and roofing manufacturing.
- Good understanding of the macro and micro economics within West Africa.
- Strong understanding of processes and operations across the value chain, including Finance, HR, Sales, Marketing, and Operations.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to drive operational excellence within a business.
