UMA is seeking to employ qualified, experienced, and motivated Electrical Engineer / Planner
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage the detailed work schedules for electrical maintenance activities, ensuring they are aligned with the mining production schedule and operational priorities.
- Create work orders and job plans for electrical maintenance tasks, including material requirements, labor, and equipment needs.
- Prioritize tasks based on operational needs, equipment criticality, and safety considerations.
- Coordinate with the maintenance and operations teams to ensure minimal disruption to production.
- Ensure the availability of required electrical parts, tools, and materials by working closely with the procurement team.
- Manage inventory for electrical components, ensuring critical spares are kept on hand to avoid delays.
- Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to source required electrical components and services.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment performance, and repairs.
- Analyse and report on the performance of electrical systems, identifying trends and recommending improvements or upgrades.
- Assist in the preparation of maintenance reports for management, ensuring compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in safety audits, inspections, and safety meetings to continuously improve safety practices.
- Identify opportunities for improving electrical systems, processes, and maintenance practices to increase operational efficiency and reduce downtime.
- Provide input on new technologies or techniques that may enhance electrical performance and safety within the mining environment.

Required Skills or Experience
- ?Minimum qualification of bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent from a recognized University with a minimum of 2-3 years experience working preferably in a Hard Rock Underground Mines.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- In-depth knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and safety regulations (e.g., NEC, MSHA).
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot electrical systems and equipment.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with cross-functional teams and external vendors.
- Proactive and detail-oriented, with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Strong commitment to safety and environmental standards.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, underground mining environment.
- Capable of wearing necessary protective gear (e.g., hard hats, safety boots, gloves, respiratory protection) in compliance with safety standards.
