The Investment Analyst will be responsible for supporting GBHub Africa's investment strategy by conducting thorough financial analysis, due diligence, and market research to identify and evaluate investment opportunities in startups and SMEs across Africa's food systems, while ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and investment criteria.
Key Responsibilities:
Deal Sourcing and Screening
- Identify and evaluate potential investment opportunities
- Conduct initial screening of investment proposals
- Maintain pipeline of potential investments
Financial Analysis
- Perform detailed financial analysis and modelling.
- Conduct valuation assessments
- Prepare investment memorandums
Due Diligence
- Lead and coordinate due diligence processes
- Analyze business models and market opportunities
- Assess risks and mitigation strategies
Portfolio Management
- Monitor portfolio company performance
- Prepare regular portfolio reports
- Support portfolio companies as needed

Requirements:
Technical Competencies
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related field; MBA/CFA is a plus
- Atleast three (3) years of experience in investment analysis, venture capital, or private equity
- Strong understanding of African food systems markets and startup ecosystems.
- Proven track record in financial modelling and valuation methodologies.
- Experience in due diligence processes, investment documentation, market research and value chain analysis.
- Knowledge of various investment instruments and deal structures.
- Understanding of ESG principles and impact investing.
- Expert proficiency in Excel and financial analysis tools
- Deep interest in the food systems value chain.
- Investment memorandum writing.
- Risk assessment, management and portfolio monitoring and reporting.
Behavioural Competencies
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Detail-oriented with high accuracy
- Problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Team collaboration and relationship building
