The Accounting Specialist will manage various accounting tasks, ensuring accurate and timely financial records. This role involves maintaining financial statements, reconciling accounts, and assisting with budget preparations. The ideal candidate should have a strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Job Description

  • Maintain and update the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Prepare and post journal entries for various transactions.
  • Conduct monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities.
  • Reconcile bank statements and other accounts regularly.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Support the creation of management reports and financial summaries.
  • Assist in the development of annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
  • Monitor budget performance and report variances.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and relevant regulations.
  • Prepare documentation and provide support during internal and external audits.
  • Ensure project accounting activities comply with financial regulations, internal policies, and accounting standards.
  • Assist in project audits and reviews to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Process accounts payable and receivable transactions accurately and efficiently.
  • Monitor aging reports and follow up on overdue accounts.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in accounting operations.
  • Provide support for special projects and ad hoc financial analysis as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Min 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a similar role.
  • CPA, CMA, or other relevant certification is a plus.
  • Experience with ERP systems and financial reporting tools.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics 365).
  • Strong knowledge of (GAAP, IFRS, IAS).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Advanced Excel skills for financial modelling and data analysis.
  • No travel restrictions,
  • Reside or able to reside in Accra or Tema, Ghana.
