The Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NRA) is an independent regulatory body established by the NRA Act, 2015 (Act 895) and began operations in January 2016. The NRA has a statutory responsibility for regulating civilian use of nuclear and other radioactive materials and is preparing itself to regulate Ghana’s nuclear power programme.
Job Description
The NRA is seeking to recruit to fill various positions in its organisational structure. The NRA hereby invites qualified Ghanaians to apply for any of the positions listed below.
A Mechanical HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) and Pumps and Valves Engineer for a nuclear regulatory body reviews designs, maintenance and operational procedures for HVAC systems, pumps and valves systems in nuclear power plants, research reactors, and other nuclear facilities, ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance with regulations.
Key required tasks are:
- Review of design HVAC systems for nuclear facilities to meet regulatory requirements, including overseeing their installation, commissioning, modification and operation.
- Review of design pumps, valves and other mechanical systems for nuclear facilities to meet regulatory requirements, including overseeing their installation, commissioning, modification and operation.
- Review maintenance and operational processes and procedures for HVAC systems, and pumps, valves and other mechanical systems to ensure that all nuclear safety and radiation protection regulatory requirements are met.

Required Skills or Experience
Minimum Education
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. Bachelors degree with significant experience in mechanical HVAC, pumps and valves and other mechanical systems design and operation could be considered.
Certifications & Knowledge
- Good understanding of HVAC systems and mechanical systems and components including pumps and valves, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and related design codes will be an advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 2 - 5-years of experience in mechanical engineering with focus on HVAC or mechanical systems and components. Nuclear knowledge would be an advantage.
