Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill a vacancy in the post of Director, Transport, Logistics and Stores in the Parliamentary service of Ghana.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
The Director of Transport, Logistics and Stores shall provide support for the Clerk and management of the service through the Deputy Clerk responsible for Corporate and Financial management services by performing the following duties:
- Develop and implement transport and logistics strategies, policies, guidelines, and procedures to ensure efficient and cost-effective movement of persons, goods and materials
- Plan and coordinated transport and logistics operations including distribution, warehousing and inventory management to meet the requirements of the Parliamentary Service
- Ensure compliance with policies, guidelines and other regulatory requirements and safety standards governing transportation, warehousing and distribution activities, maintaining documentation and records
- Establish and implement a system for vehicle fleet allocation, scheduling and routing, documentation, registration and planned maintenance
- Advise on technical requirements in the acquisition and procurement of vehicles and logistics for the Parliamentary service
- Propose new or improved administrative, stores and clerical procedures to maintain economy and efficiency to store operations
- Monitor the effective management of all store activities of Parliamentary Services
- Liaise with departments to establish minimum, reordering and maximum stock levels of materials and monitor to ensure compliance
- Prepare stores code or vocabulary, standards and materials specifications for easy identification and retrieval of store items
- Maintain and update records on all stores transactions
- Perform any other duties that the Clerk may assign to Parliament

Qualification Required & Experience
- A good first degree in Mechanical Engineering, Transportation Planning and Management, Automobile Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Logistics, Supply Chain Management or a relevant discipline from a recognised university with a minimum of 10 years of post-qualification work experience plus a Master’s degree in the relevant discipline and at least 3 years in a position analogous to a Deputy Director in a public service institution OR
- A Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Transportation Planning and Management, Automobile Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Logistics, Supply Chain Management or a relevant discipline from a recognised university with a minimum of 6 years of post-qualification work experience and at least 3 years in a position analogous to a Deputy Director in a public service institution
Age Limit: Except when an applicant has been in the employment of a public service institution or state agency, the applicant should not be above 50 years of age on the date of appointment to the post.
