In 2017, Koa had a brilliant idea of how to contribute to sustainable growth in rural Ghana. The Ghanaian-Swiss start-up was born from a sophisticated concept, innovative processes, and a lot of passion. Koa is the first cocoa fruit processor in West Africa and makes use of the pulp of the cocoa pods, thus reducing food waste and enabling Ghanaian cocoa farmers to earn an additional income.

Koa’s first factory has a capacity of 300 tons, and the second factory has 2,500 tons. Today, over 100 employees in Ghana and Switzerland dedicate themselves to the growth of Koa to boost value creation in the cocoa-growing regions and to develop innovative and pioneering processes. The role of the Technical Manager at Koa is an opportunity to learn and improve skills in the QATech business unit. The position aims to positively impact the value chain of Koa products derived from fresh cocoa fruit.

The technical manager is responsible for supporting the technical activities for which he or she would be assigned to ensure operational efficiency through daily maintenance and projects. LET’S SUM IT UP!

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure machinery, equipment, and infrastructure are kept in optimal conditions for safe operation.
  • Monitor and address the right use of basic resources such as electricity, water, and fuel during the daily production activities observed.
  • Implement the preventive and corrective programs as agreed upon with technical and maintenance management, which are essential for maintaining machinery, equipment, and infrastructure in optimal conditions to ensure product quality and support timely operations.
  • Carry out maintenance activities, repairs, and improvements according to management approval and instruction.
  • Support the projects for new technical integrations.
  • Implementation and improvement of energy systems for the company.
  • Maintain, develop, and collaborate in the creation and control of technical documentation required and related to the technical and maintenance department and new projects.
  • Carry out training to operators to ensure proper operation of equipment and machinery.
  • Leading and supporting continuous improvement activities, such as reducing negative environmental impact, and process automation.

Qualification Required & Experience

  • 5 years of working experience in technical servicing, electrical or mechanical. Preferably in a food production company.
  • Project coordination and execution in repair & maintenance; Operations & preventive maintenance philosophy; Production & Maintenance.
  • Experience in field operation, process design & system engineering, knowledge of process engineering calculations, and knowledge of the use of computer programs for process simulation packages.
  • International work experience in a similar field is an added
