This position reports to the General Manager and provides leadership and management to the Ewoyaa Lithium Mine. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the Manager of the Mine in ensuring the implementation of security systems, policies and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.

This role is responsible for implementing and managing security measures to safeguard the Company's assets, employees, and business operations. The successful candidate will play a vital role in mitigating risks associated with theft, vandalism, and unauthorised access.

Per the Minerals and Mining Regulations on Local Content, this role is reserved for Ghanaians.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement security policies and procedures to ensure the protection of all Company assets, including physical assets, proprietary information, and intellectual property.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and audits, identifying potential security vulnerabilities and recommending appropriate solutions.
  • Lead a well-trained security force that are self-aware confident and effective.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement comprehensive security training programmes for employees.
  • Monitor and manage the Company's video surveillance systems, access control systems, and alarm systems.
  • Maintain a strong working relationship with local law enforcement agencies, security companies that the Company retains and coordinate with them when necessary.
  • Investigate and report any security incidents or breaches, ensuring appropriate actions are taken to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Conduct background checks and screenings for new hires, vendors, and contractors to ensure compliance with security requirements.
  • Support the development and coordinate of emergency response plans, including evacuation protocols and crisis management procedures.
  • Stay up to date with industry best practices and advancements in security technology, making recommendations for improvement as required.
  • Manage security budgets, ensuring cost-effective solutions are implemented.
  • Coordinate with Health and Safety on the safe and efficient haulage of minerals of interest to delivery points.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's / advanced degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience as a law enforcement official will be highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in security management, loss prevention, or a similar role with significant experience in the mining industry in Ghana.
  • Proven knowledge of security technologies, such as video surveillance, access control systems, and alarm systems.
  • Strong understanding of security regulations, laws, and best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other security-related software tools.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating leadership and decision-making capabilities.

  • A certified First Aider is required.
  • Knowledge of Ghanaian mining systems and regulations.
  • Ability to deliver in a dynamic, complex environment.
  • Ability to identify and evaluate risks and implement appropriate mitigation plans

Working Conditions

  • This position will be located at the Ewoyaa Lithium Project site in the Mfantseman Municipality.
  • The role will have significant field visits to pits, exploration and processing areas.
  • Long and unpredicted hours of work and direct engagement with all levels of staff.
