We collaborate with various stakeholders, including educational institutions, government bodies, and international organizations, to advocate for effective online safety policies and practices.

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Research Associate to join our team focusing on digital safety and child online protection. The candidate will assist in conducting significant research projects and analyzing data related to children’s online activities, digital risks, and safety measures. This role requires a blend of technical knowledge, research skills, and a deep understanding of the unique challenges facing children in the digital world

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and Refine Survey Instruments for the Research Area: Collaborate with Principal Investigators to conduct pilot surveys on Online Safety and digital parenting. Provide feedback on field operations and refine survey instruments to effectively capture data on thematic assignments.
  • Lead Field Research Activities: Plan and conduct field research activities, including training field staff, managing team logistics, and overseeing the collection of data on topics such as digital parenting, online risks for children, and effective strategies for child online protection.
  • Ensure Adherence to Data Quality Protocols in Research: Implement data quality protocols, manage data quality audits, and run high-frequency checks to ensure the reliability and accuracy of data collected on digital safety and child online protection.
  • Analyze Data to Inform Digital Parenting Strategies: Analyze quantitative and qualitative data from surveys, interviews, and focus groups to identify trends and risks in digital safety and child online protection, and to develop effective digital parenting strategies.
  • Collaborate on Reports and Policy Recommendations: Work with team members to develop comprehensive reports and policy recommendations based on research findings in the areas of digital parenting, child online protection, and digital safety.
  • Engage with Key Stakeholders for Comprehensive Insights: Conduct engagements with educators, parents, and children to gather diverse perspectives on digital safety and online risks, using these insights to inform research and develop targeted strategies.
  • Stay Informed on Developments in Digital Technology and Child Psychology: Continuously update knowledge on the latest developments in digital technology, online safety trends, and child psychology to ensure research is current and relevant.
  • Systematic Storage of Research Data and Outputs: Ensure that all research data and outputs related to digital parenting and child online protection are stored confidentially and systematically, adhering to ethical standards and data protection regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in psychology, Statistics, Sociology, Information Technology, or related fields.
  • Proven research experience in societal-based projects.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in both qualitative and quantitative research methods.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in the use of research software and digital tools.
  • Knowledge of child development and the psychological impacts of digital technology is highly desirable.
  • A minimum of 2 years of work experience is required.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Job Location:

  • Candidate must be based in Kumasi or have means to be present for Research activities.
