Responsibilities and Duties
The Finance Officer as the Chief Accounting Officer of the University and the Chief Financial Advisor to the Vice Chancellor:
- Has the general responsibility for the administration of the financial affairs of the University that will ensure its financial affairs of the University that will ensure its financial well-being and will exercise direct supervision of all accounting officers
- Is responsible for collecting University’s legitimate revenue
- Exercise control over expenditure in line with the University’s objectives and budget
- Prepares the annual budget of the University for presentation to the appropriate governing body for approval and implementation
- Liaises with the University’s appointed external auditors to get the University’s financial statements audited
- Ensures that the financial statements of the University are aligned with the statutes
- Ensures that financial and th accounting records are maintained in compliance with the General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Performs other functions as it may be given by the Vice Chancellor and the council chairman.
Qualification Required & Experience
- Applicants must possess a good master’s degree in Finance/Accounting (CA(Gh), ACCA, CIMA, CPA)
- Applicants must have served as a Deputy Finance Officer in a University of served as a Deputy Finance Officer in a University or cognate organisation for at least 4 years.

- Be a good team leader
- Be analytical, critical, result-oriented, innovative and visionary
- Must have strong IT skills and familiarity with accounting software
- Must be able to work under pressure to meet deadlines
- Possess excellent supervisory skills and strong communication skills
- Demonstrate commitment to integrity and right practices
Terms of Appointment
The Successful applicant shall hold office for four (4) years and may, upon application, be eligible for re-appointment for a further term of up to four (4) years
